Self Employed

by Jill

When I think of "Financial Freedom", I think of income rather than debts. For me, financial freedom is being able to make your own money, on your own terms without having to answer to anyone. It means that you are working to make yourself financially secure rather than working towards someone else's goals... i.e. self employment.

Discovering how to become self employed can be a fun adventure. Many opportunities can start out as part time endeavors while you continue to hold down a job to pay the bills. And with time, as your business grows, the goal is to eventually quit your "day job" to work for yourself.

This can take some creativity, out of the box thinking. And if you're not a business minded person, you can take classes or hire an accountant to handle the "business" sides of any career path.

I currently work multiple endeavors all with the goal to make enough money to afford the classes I need to take for my end career goal. After I've completed the classes, it's time to begin marketing the new business. I have some great marketing ideas, but I also join many Facebook groups to get great ideas from others. And yes, social media in itself is one great way to market you and your new business.

I'm hoping that by this time next year, I will be well on my way to a new chapter of financial freedom in my own life. Instead of working 3 jobs, I hope to scale it down to 2 of my favorites. And ideally, both would make enough income to be part time so that I can enjoy more time with my family.
